Self Evident, joined by Gameboy, together with a featured vocalist. Excitement. Full live audio/visual set-up including a launch pad, melodica, game controllers, micro-sampler, boss sampler, and a midi fighter. Latin rhythms mixed with synths and bass and who knows what else. Ripe for the prime time. Very music looking forward.

: subdiv : error broadcast : victoria :

Monolithium, aka Chris Longshanks, has a VERY impressive forth-coming release on Russia's 'error broadcast' imprint that couldn't come sooner. Watch out. Monolithium's sound aligns with future-funk, wonky and the fuller, more colourful side of bass music. Chris also leads the well respected Subdivision team, responsible for consistent genre-pushing bass events in Victoria.

: lighta! : low indigo :

Like a single-malt whiskey, some projects need time to mature to full flavour (and be properly enjoyed). Years of isolation and experimenting with sound hypnosis, altered perceptions of time, tangible atmospheres, polyrhythms, dub aesthetics, and bass feel like they are finally flowering into something that can now be touched again. Excited to share. hope you like it.

: alphabasic :

Listen to Bartel's online music as a reference to his musicianship and sonic treatment. Apply that to the year 2011 on an educated dancefloor. And don't be surprised if you hear live vocals and guitars. To quote Vincent Parker, "Bartel can do anything". Let's see what he does tonight.

: transmolecular : mystery works : seekers international :

"Mystery Works" is one accurate description. Transmolecular is somewhat of an anomaly. Informed by hip hop culture, in the context of boundary-less experimentation. Dubbed out, deconstructed breakbeats and sound snippets to the point of non-recognition. the joyous sounds of tomorrow, today.

: imaginations treetrunk : neferiu :

Chadio is one of Vancouver's best informed bass music heads (he's at every single show, everywhere), newly turned DJ, and also well established in the local rap community. Tucker Foldin, the only DJ on the bill, is set to bookend the night with choice selections to satisfy the both the heads and the dancefloor. Maximum brightness.

Sammy's taken care of visuals for Low Indigo as few times now, and will no doubt continue to in the future. Quality vibes. Quality aesthetics. Movement without being overwhelming. Colour without being too busy. Effectively responding and synergizing with the music as it continues to change.

DIALECTIC

Dialectic is a musician and producer from England, where he developed his eclectic musical influences (ranging from Jazz through Northern Soul, Reggae, Ska, Dub, Blues, Funk, Acid House, Hip House, Drum & Bass and Techno), in the clubs, festivals and raves of the 80's and 90's. His music combines the euphoric melancholy of first generation Detroit Techno with the driving, modulating basslines of Acid House and the atmospherics of Ambient Dub. Dialectic's performance background began with DJing, although he quickly found making his own music, using a combination of guitar, effects, sampling and synthesiser programming provided a more satisfying outlet for personal expression. He has released a number of albums on his own record label, Dialectic Productions. As well as performing live and recording his own music, Dialectic holds a Masters degree in Audio Production from the University of Westminster, and has taught professional courses in engineering, production and recording.

---------------------------------------------------------
[ SILKIE ] deep medi / antisocial / rinse.fm // london.uk

Foundational dubstep vibes. Silkie's long awaited and highly requested Vancouver debut. It's time.

SILKIE is a dubstep producer and DJ from West London. He released his debut LP City Limits Volume 1 in July 2009 on highly-reputable DEEP MEDI MUSIK, a label run by MALA (one of original builders of the dubstep movement). He was personally chosen by Mala, along with collaborator Quest, to represent the growing global bass scene in Mary-Anne Hobbs’ live mix showcase Generation Bass in September 2008 on BBC Radio 1, two-and-a-half years after the seminal Dubstep Warz.

“It’s fair to say the dubstep scene has splintered and refracted into myriad Sub(bass)styles over the last couple of years, but at the epicentre of the scene are a few artists who have maintained the original spirit of the style while alloying it successfully with influences that were always hovering on the edges, but never fully integrated. Silkie is one of those artists… who’s heated elements of deeper and synth driven soul around the glowing core of DMZ’s bassbins to create one of the lushest fusions in the scene.” -Boomkat, July 2009.

on Silkie's latest album:
DEEP MEDi Musik are proud to present the debut album from one of dubstep’s most exciting artists: Silkie. Hailing from west London, “City Limits Volume 1” is a glorious explosion of physical energy and concentrated emotion. Deep Medi is the burgeoning stable of dubstep pioneer, Mala (Digital Mystikz/DMZ).
The combination of impassioned melodies, ruff London bass, wonky synth and jungle-esque flourishes on “City Limits Volume 1” have made Silkie and his Anti Social Entertainment camp mainstays of the biggest and most influential venues in dubstep, like Fwd>>, DMZ London & Leeds, as well as London’s leading station Rinse FM.
The album is the culmination of eight years hard work: Silkie began producing at 15 while still at school. He’s now seeing the fruits of his labour with DJ bookings both across the UK and worldwide. Through his emotive production vision, he’s long since exploded beyond his own personal City Limits.

---------------------------------------------------------
[ LORN ] brainfeeder // milwaukee.usa

Lorn’s debut full-length album Nothing Else, released on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label, has stirred the minds of listeners and rattled the keyboards of critics around the world, accumulating praise from musical authorities such as Pitchfork and the BBC, as well as bloggers and the online underground alike.

The Milwaukee-based producer hails from the future of music as do his Brainfeeder contemporaries, however this young artist also forges a connection between the current exploding beat scene and its roots in the experimental scratch community born many years ago. Sharing his music online with other explorers of new software technology, Lorn cultivated a global following with his original scratch beats and traveled to play in the UK, Europe and Canada before ever releasing an album.

At age 23, this art school dropout has already been making beats for almost a decade, and with the release of Nothing Else has moved his mastery of emotion to a new level. Influenced by the sounds of metal, drum and bass, ambient, classical, early hip hop, funk and the inherent pain of human existence, the music that pushes itself out of Lorn’s head is uncompromising to the point of defiance, sharply reflecting his commitment to his craft that has inspired so many others. Lorn is an impassioned performer who commands the crowd, with a stage presence that parallels the extreme emotional output of his music. Expect no less than greatness from this artist; certitude and concern is a potent combination for the creation of beauty, and from the unconquerable will of one shall no doubt emerge profound musical experiences for many.

---------------------------------------------------------
[ MALILONE ] argon // paris.france

Raised in the Parisian suburbs in a mixed-race family, Malilone found an escape from reality through music and chose to live life the way she wanted. With a background of multiple genres throughout her life : from rock and new-wave to electronic music such as synth-pop, minimal techno, jungle, house, disco and 90's hip hop, Malilone’s productions have helped express her influences and incorporate her emotion into the dubstep tempo we all love. Wanting to persue music as a career, Malilone took the next step and started studying sound engineering going on to work as a sound technician, which helped her transition into creating her own sound. In 2002, she started djing, practicing at home and local raves, she has since gone on to play in cities from Paris to Berlin. Surrounding herself in music, she then worked in A&R for Universal Music, where she learned the ins and outs about the music business and a better understanding about the technical side of music production.

Malilone production has seen support from producers like Matt-U, Von D and Bunzero as well as featuring in countless shows and mixes, as well as received high praise from the authorities at boomkat.

---------------------------------------------------------
[ LONGSHANKS ] subdivision // vic

Chris Longshanks has been the longtime resident of one of Victoria’s most successful parties: SOLID! Saturday @ Lucky Bar. Chris helms the SUBDIVISION ship, who are by far the most consistant with bringing new club sounds to Victoria’s dancing masses.

Longshanks’ recent re-invention as one of Victoria’s ambassadors of bass has led to some amazing live performances alongside Flying Lotus, Excision, FaltyDL, Hrdvsion among other international performers. Moving from DJing into performing modular live sets using Ableton incorporating his own productions, Longshanks’ live sets traverse a myriad of genres, from 2step to dubstep to live hip-hop remixing. In 2009, he struck up a creative connection with Portland-based Run Riot Records, having 2 of his own productions released with plans for more later in 2010

---------------------------------------------------------
[ RUAIRI LAZERS ] panospria / acroplane // vic

Ruairi Lazers has experimental approach to dance music that often results in the unpredictable. All manner of styles and tempos are mashed together in an intelligent mix of acoustic instruments, ambient interludes, melodic synths and breakbeats. His sound is influenced by the artists such as Tipper, Richard H. Kirk, Shpongle and Si Begg as well as the output of Skam, Warp, Schematic and Rephlex record labels.

currently being courted to join north america's WORLD OF DRUM'N'BASS TOUR. LAZERS puts on a serious show.

---------------------------------------------------------
[ TOMAS JIRKU ] rivers of / force inc / intr_version / alien8 // van

Tomas Jirku was discovered in 1999, when he sent out two demos to (then strictly online label) No Type director David Turgeon, who immediately invited him to join the label. Through a limited CD-R edition of his first web album, Immaterial, his music reaches the ears of Alien8 co-director Gary Worsley, who signs him on the spot. Meanwhile, Tomas had started a very special project on No Type, called Variants: regularly, he uploaded, changed, deleted tracks. All in all, nearly sixty tracks were composed this way. The eponymous disc (on Alien8) features 12 of these tracks and obtained great popular and critical success.
Hot on the heels of Variants, Tomas Jirku was invited to the first edition of Montreal-based festival Mutek, where he opened for the well known German minimalist Thomas Brinkmann. This show was such a success, Tomas was immediately invited to release a CD on the prestigious German label Force Inc: Sequins. This CD was followed with a “reworked” reissue of Immaterial, on new Alien8 sublabel Substractif.
As he became increasingly in demand, Tomas performed in numerous live shows, in Canada and across the world. New music was released on various compilations (Clicks & Cuts 2, The Freest of Radicals, Elektonische Musik Interkontinentale 1 & 2) as well as on many 12” singles. He could also be heard remixing artists such as Process or Electric Company. Finally, he released the Entropy CD for Montreal-based label Intr_version. The following year was dedicated to collaboration, with a GI Joe Killaz album (a silly gangsta hip-hop project featuring the famous cartoon characters), as well as a more serious project with his accomplice Robin Judge, which yielded the CD Plusism on the Onitor label.

---------------------------------------------------------
[ DONKEY DONG ] vic

AKA Thomas Shields of Run Chico Run. But this is a far cry from his duo’s complex, quirky pop structures… Donkey Dong is Shields in Techno mode. A big analog synth fan, Shields brings a schwak of sequencers & keyboards to the stage & proceeds to create a swirling vortex of trickling melodies with thrumming propulsion. all live. no laptop. Taking influence from Detroit & Berlin, Donkey Dong is an exciting new project from Victoria.
